Launch of License Sales of Embedded Graphics IP "GA88 Series/IWAYAG"
Support Adobe® Flash® Lite™ 3

- Fast Playback of Rich Flash Contents in the Digital Home Appliance and Other Embedded Devices -

December 10, 2008-NEC System Technologies, Ltd. today announced the launch of license sales of embedded graphics IP "GA88 Series/IWAYAG" achieving high function, high performance vector graphics conforming to the latest version OpenVG 1.1 for digital home appliances, car navigation systems and other visual display functions installed embedded devices. This supports FlashPlayer and Adobe Flash Lite 3.1.5 embedded by Adobe Systems Incorporated and enables 5x to 10x faster Flash contents playback speeds.

Flash animation and video have been utilized in recent years for car navigation systems, cell phones as well as DVD players and other digital home appliances that require greater user experience. However, Flash contents performance is often lacking in embedded devices like digital home electronics due to the use of CPUs with comparatively slow processing speeds because of cost, battery capacity, size or other limitations. Playback speeds for Flash contents 5x to 10x faster were achieved by making IWAYAG, a vector graphics imaging engine loaded to hardware, compatible to OpenVG 1.1 and Adobe Flash Lite3.1.5, and porting services being provided between IWAYAG and Adobe Flash Lite 3.1.5 simultaneously, realizing efficiency in embedded graphics developments using Flash.

NEC System Technologies, Ltd. seeks to employ the GA88 Series to a wide range of embedded devices with visual display functions like digital televisions and other digital home appliances, car navigation systems and other devices in vehicle, and various digital signage terminals.

Gary Kovacs, general manager and vice president, Mobile and Devices at Adobe said, "Hundreds of millions of products and devices support Flash Lite today. We are excited about the support of Flash Lite 3 in the NEC IWAYAG graphics IP and expect to see even richer content experiences and user interfaces on a broad range of devices in the future."

Neil Trevett, president of the Khronos Group said, "Khronos congratulates NEC on delivering the IWAYAG architecture that takes full advantage of the new OpenVG 1.1 specification to deliver the latest generation of vector graphics acceleration. Khronos has worked hard to create open standards for embedded graphics applications and user interfaces and we welcome the adoption of OpenVG by a major and respected industry leader such as NEC."
