Introduction of GA88 SERIES/IWAYAG, an Embedded Graphics IP that Allows the Easy
Implementation of Rich Contents in Embedded Devices

- Provision of a Vector Graphics Engine that Is Optimal for Embedded Devices -

May 13, 2008-NEC System Technologies, Ltd. announced that, they will start the sell of GA88 Series/IWAYAG embedded graphics IP in the early August. This product implements two-dimensional graphics with advanced functionality and high performance for embedded devices with visual display functions such as digital home appliances and automobile navigation systems. It follows the GA88 Series/ISHITEG and will be the 2nd phase product of the series.

IWAYAG provides the ability to rapidly render vector graphics with greater expressiveness at a low CPU load in order to respond to demands for more advanced graphical user interfaces (GUI), rich contents and other graphic functions in embedded devices. Since vector graphics allow the drawing of animation-like effects and three-dimensional images, expressions that were difficult with conventional two-dimensional graphics, it is ideal for the development of rich contents and other applications for embedded devices, which have strict power, memory and cost limitations. Moreover, ISHITEG has already received high praise for vector graphics, and this new product has further enhanced functions.

Enhancements made for the implementation of more advanced graphics are as follows.

1. Create perspective through the transformation of text characters and figures.
In addition to enlargement and shrinking, by transforming the figures itself, the object in the side is large and expression which gave depth perception can be small displayed by the object which exists in the distance. This is realized through the use of projective transformation.
2. Realistic generation of complex expressions through the layering of images and other techniques.
Through the layering of semitransparent images and other techniques, complex three-dimensional expressions, as well as two-dimensional images, can be generated realistically.
3. Gradations and other diverse color tones can be expressed.
By changing the color data, wide array of color tones, such as the contrast, brightness adjustment and gradations, is possible.
