- Automatically tracks contraction changes made to houses base on aerial photos -

October 13, 2005-NEC Corporation and NEC System Technologies, Ltd. announced today that the companies have begun full-fledged sales activities for the first-in-the-industry "Fixed Asset Software" a software program that tracks changes made to houses based on aerial photos. The software tracks changes including new construction, reductions or losses, remodeling and expansions, and by analyzing changes in the heights and colors of houses captured by aerial photos taken on different days.A measuring service provider is the first user of this software. This service provider will use the software to perform the task of determining changes made to houses for the evaluation for property taxes in the city of Tokyo.

For municipalities, tracking changes made to houses is indispensable for the purpose of determining property taxes. In the past, aerial photos from a current year and one from previous years were visually compared for identifying changes. This software now automates the process by reducing the work effort by two-thirds. The product also solves conventional issues, such as tracking changes in structure height that is difficult to capture with human vision. Lastly, this new software makes fair and objective determination by eliminating human error.

Based on this sale, NEC and NEC System Technologies will actively pursue the sales activities of this software by targeting measuring service providers that perform similar tasks in municipalities across Japan.
