Osaka, Japan -May 13, 2003-NEC System Technologies and Miracle Linux announced today that they have agreed to jointly promote "VMware" virtual machine software for the Linux market. The companies will jointly conduct marketing and share technological information of the virtual machine software that allows users to run multiple operating systems on a single server or PC.
The latest alliance is aimed at expanding sales of solutions that combine "VMware GSX Server" and "VMware Workstation" offered by VMware, Inc with NEC's "Express5800" server and Miracle Linux's "MIRACLE LINUX".
Comments by VMware Inc.
VMware welcomes the alliance between NECST and Miracle Linux and the role of VMware products in this cooperation.
In particular, VMware GSX Server, now in its third generation, will be especially prominent in the cooperation between NECST and Miracle Linux.
With the just released VMware Workstation 4, Linux users will enjoy the new user interface on the Linux version and its strong functionalities.
VMware GSX server and Workstation let users run multiple operating systems --including Microsoft Windows, Linux and Novell NetWare -- and their applications simultaneously on a single machine in fully networked, portable virtual machines.
As a result of strong local partner support, we expect more users in Japan to benefit from the advantages of VMware virtualization software.
