NEC System Technologies Establishes R&D unit -System Technologies Laboratories |
Osaka, Japan - April 1, 2003-NEC System Technologies announced today that it has established "System Technologies Laboratories" as part of its move to strengthen research on information access for an Internet/ubiquitous society. The new research and development team will focus on acquiring advanced technologies and pursuing in-house development to generate business opportunities.
"System Technologies Laboratories" will pursue research and development in the ubiquitous information access/architecture field, focusing mainly in the following areas.
- Research and development of component technologies for extracting valuable information from the vast information available in an Internet/ubiquitous society and matching them to users' needs
- Activities to deploy the results of those researches onto various platforms for commercial possibilities and to apply the value-added technologies in SI service business
To access necessary information appropriately and efficiently from the Internet's vast and fast-changing source of information, the R&D team will focus on the development of technologies in preparation for ubiquitous environments.
- Technologies to analyze, organize and index structures of various information on the Internet
- Technologies to extract values from organized information
- Technologies to visualize information and values, and data conversion technologies to share and refer information between different devices
- Technologies to protect intellectual property rights of digital contents and to ensure security
By establishing "System Technologies Laboratories" R&D team and by strengthening commercialization efforts of advanced technologies obtained by the team's R&D results,
NEC System Technologies hopes to further strengthen its competitive edge and its ability to efficiently provide value-added solutions to user companies.
